Prop Setup and Maintenance FAQ
What exactly does it mean when you say "Ready to Run":
For our Skeletal Animations an animation controller and input trigger is already included so the only non supplied parts are:
- A stable mounting surface
- An Air Compressor
- A 1/4" NPT female threaded coupler nipple that matches your existing quick disconnect coupler.
- 120V A/C Power.
- Optional but recommended - inline pressure regulator.
To operate, secure the prop to a stable mounting surface, connect air (we recommend starting at 40psi and working your way up), add power, allow the sensor to power up and when motion is detected the controller will play its preprogrammed show.
For our Mechanisms and Startle Effects- Ready to Run means it includes the necessary pneumatic components and electrical connections, but it requires the following:
- A stable mounting surface
- An Air Compressor
- A 1/4" NPT female threaded coupler nipple that matches your existing quick disconnect coupler.
- 120V A/C Power.
Once air and power is available, to operate you simply plug in the 120V to 12V DC power supply and the prop or effect does its thing. Unplug to stop the animation or effect. You can always add a controller and trigger/sensor later.
Do you ship with pivots/slides lubricated?
Generally we ship all props unlubricated in order to provide a professionally finished product and to avoid a gross mess upon opening.
- For slide mechanisms and areas that cannot have grease, we recommend silicon spray lubricant or dry graphite spray.

For heavier duty props we recommend
- Lucas Red & Tacky Spray Grease (this is our go to lubricant for almost everything) Avail at Hardware, Automotive, and online stores nationwide.
What Lubricants do you recommend for air cylinders?
- All cylinders come pre-lubricated from the factory, but if needed we recommend air tool oil.
Should we use air regulators and water traps?
- ABSOLUTLY!!! We recommend a pressure regulator on your compressor(s) as well as EVERY prop - set it to the minimal pressure needed to optimize your props performance. Remember, the lower the PSI the less strain and the longer your props going to last.
As for water traps, these are a must if your compressor is running for long periods and the air is hot. Heat results in moisture and your compressor will fill up and transfer thru every hose, valve, and cylinder.
- Also remember to drain your compressor's drain valve and all water traps daily - we also like to drain our hoses by hanging then at year end to allow the water to drip out - remember to insert a quick disconnect nipple into the female end so the water doesn't pool at the coupler.
